The New River Gorge Bridge is an arch bridge located in West Virginia, America. Construction of the bridge started in 1974 and in 1977 the bridge opened. The bridge is built with Corten steel which gives the steel a thin surface with rust which protects against deep rust, which means that you do not need to paint the bridge. The New River Gorge Bridge is 924 meters long and has a span of 518 meters, it was the world's largest arch bridge until the Lupu Bridge in China opened in 2003. Before the bridge opened, it took 45 minutes to cross the valley now it takes 45 seconds.
