The Baluarte Bridge is a cable-stayed bridge located in the Sierra Madre Occidental mountain range between Sinaloa and Durango in Mexico. The construction of the bridge started in 2008 and in 2012 it opened. The bridge is 1,124 meters long, and is the largest bridge in Mexico with a main span of 520 meters.
The bridge is part of Federal Highway 40 between Mazatlan and Durango. It has reduced the journey time from 6 to 2.5 hours
The Baluarte Bridge was the 3rd highest bridge in the world when it opened, measured from the bridge deck to the bottom of the gorge with a deck height of 403 metres.
