Great Belt Bridge is 254 meter high and make this Denmarks highest point. Great Belt Bridge is named after the strait which is between Fyn and Sjælland. The bridge has a main span of 1,624 meters, making it the third largest suspension bridge in the world and the longest outside of Asia.
The connection consists of two bridges
West Bridge that goes between Fyn and Sprogø and East Bridge that goes between Sprogø and Zealand. Total length of the connection is 13.4 km.
Construction of the bridge began in 1989, and the bridge connection was opened in 1998. The railway was opened in 1997. The bridge is built, owned and operated by the company Storebælt AS.
