The Saltstraumen bridge crosses the Saltstraumen, which is the world's strongest tidal current in Nordland Norway. The bridge has an anemometer that lights up red when the wind speed is so great that the bridge must be closed. This usually happens 2-3 times per. year.
The bridge is 768 meters long and has a span of 160 meters
The bridge won the Betongtavlen in 1985 for excellent concrete architecture.
On 17 April 2008, the bridge was protected by the National Heritage Board
