Tromsø Bridge passes the strait between the mainland and the Tromsø island. The bridge was the first road access to the island, before you had to take a ferry to get across. Construction began in 1958 and in 1960 it was opened by Prime Minister Einar Gerhardsen.
Tromsø bridge was designed by the Norwegian architect Erling Viksjø.
In 1963 won the bridge price The Concrete Tablet from Norwegian Architects Association and the Norwegian Concrete Association.
The bridge was listed by Riksantikvaren 17 april 2008.
