The Tromsø Bridge crosses the strait between Tromsøya and the mainland in Troms in Norway. The bridge was the first road connection to the island, before that you had to take a ferry to get to the island. Construction started in 1958 and in 1960 it was opened by Prime Minister Einar Gerhardsen.
The Tromsø Bridge was designed by the Norwegian architect Erling Viksjø. The bridge is 1036 meters long and has a main span of 80 meters.
In 1963, the bridge won the The Concrete Tablet award from the Norwegian Association of Architects and the Norwegian Concrete Association.
The bridge was listed by the Norwegian Ministry of Cultural Heritage on April 17, 2008.
