The old Svinesund Bridge is an arch bridge that spans the strait Svinesund between Norway and Sweden. It was the first bridge connection on this stretch. Before that, there was a boat that went across the strait. Construction began in 1939 and 15 June 1946 it opened. The bridge is 420 meters long and the main span is 155 meters.
The bridge was protected by Directorate for Cultural Heritage who believed that the bridge is a symbol for the connection between Norway and Sweden
